At Lindridge, we believe that art is a powerful means of exploration, expression and communication. Through art, children develop creativity, confidence and critical thinking skills while learning to appreciate the diverse ways people represent and interpret the world around them.

Our Art curriculum is underpinned by the nationally recognised AccessArt curriculum, which provides a progressive and inclusive framework for developing artistic skills, knowledge and understanding. However, rather than following the scheme in isolation, we carefully adapt and enrich units to reflect our unique rural setting, our school's vision and values, and the interests and experiences of our children.

Wherever possible, we use our local environment as a source of inspiration and enquiry. The landscapes, wildlife, heritage and community of Lindridge provide meaningful contexts for artistic discovery, enabling children to make connections between their learning and the world around them. We also ensure that art links authentically with our wider curriculum themes and Big Questions, helping pupils to deepen their understanding through creative exploration.

Through a broad range of disciplines, including drawing, painting, sculpture, printmaking, textiles and digital media, children are encouraged to experiment, take risks and develop their own artistic voice. They study the work of diverse artists, craftspeople and designers from different cultures and periods, learning to observe, reflect, critique and create with increasing confidence and independence.

By the time they leave Lindridge, we want our pupils to see themselves as artists: curious, imaginative and resilient learners who understand that creativity is an essential skill for both personal fulfilment and future success.
