At Lindridge, Geography is at the heart of our curriculum. We have chosen to design our own Geography curriculum because we believe that our unique rural locality provides the perfect springboard for inspiring curiosity, developing knowledge and helping children make sense of the world around them. By beginning with what is familiar and meaningful, children develop a strong sense of place before extending their understanding to regional, national and global contexts.

Our Geography curriculum inspires children to "Discover Life in all its Fullness" through developing a deep appreciation of the relationships between people, places and environments. Each unit begins with a carefully crafted Big Question, encouraging children to think critically, ask meaningful questions and explore geographical concepts through enquiry. As their learning progresses, pupils build the knowledge, vocabulary and skills needed to discuss and answer these questions with confidence and understanding.

The beautiful landscapes, natural features and human geography of Lindridge and the surrounding area provide rich opportunities for first-hand learning. Fieldwork plays a central role in our curriculum, enabling children to observe, measure, record and analyse the world around them as geographers. Through these experiences, they develop the skills to investigate how places change over time and how physical and human processes shape the environments in which we live.

As pupils move through the school, they deepen their understanding of diverse places, cultures, resources and environments across the United Kingdom and the wider world. They learn to think geographically by recognising patterns, making connections and understanding the interdependence of people and places at local, national and global scales.

Through our Geography curriculum, we aim to develop informed, responsible and curious citizens who understand their place in the world and feel empowered to care for the environment and contribute positively to the future. By the time they leave Lindridge, pupils will have the knowledge, skills and confidence to question, explore and engage with the world around them, both locally and globally.
