PE and Sports Premium

PE & Sport at Lindridge

At Lindridge we recognise the contribution of PE to the health and well-being of all our pupils. We believe that the PE curriculum and extra-curricular opportunities have a positive influence on the concentration, attitude and academic achievement of every single learner in our school.

What is the PE and Sports Premium?

The Primary PE and Sport Premium is government funding provided to primary schools to improve the quality of physical education, physical activity and sport for all pupils. The funding is intended to create sustainable improvements that have a long-term impact on pupils' health, wellbeing and participation in physical activity.

In recent years, there have been significant changes to the Primary PE and Sport Premium programme, including a reduction in the level of funding available to schools. While the funding has decreased, schools remain committed to providing high-quality PE, physical activity and sporting opportunities for all pupils. Schools are also still required to publish details of how the previous year's funding was spent and the impact it has had on pupils' participation, attainment and engagement in physical activity and sport.

How we use our funding

At Lindridge St Lawrence CE Primary School, we continue to prioritise physical activity, sport and healthy lifestyles despite the reduction in available funding. We use our allocation strategically to maximise opportunities for all pupils and to ensure that improvements are sustainable over time.

Our funding supports:

  • High-quality PE teaching through staff development and training.
  • Specialist coaching to enhance pupils' sporting experiences and develop staff expertise.
  • Participation in competitive and non-competitive sporting events through local partnerships and cluster competitions.
  • A broad range of extra-curricular sporting and physical activity opportunities.
  • Targeted support to encourage less active pupils to become more involved in physical activity.
  • The promotion of healthy, active lifestyles through playtimes, clubs, enrichment activities and wider school initiatives.
  • Signposting pupils and families to local sports clubs and community opportunities to encourage lifelong participation in physical activity.

Despite the challenges posed by reduced funding, we remain committed to ensuring every child has access to a wide range of high-quality physical education, sport and active experiences. Information regarding our expenditure, impact and planned use of funding can be found in the reports below, including details of how the previous year's funding was used in line with current reporting requirements.
