At Lindridge St Lawrence Primary School, the wellbeing and mental health of our pupils is at the heart of everything we do. We believe that children thrive when they feel happy, safe, valued and supported, and we are committed to creating a nurturing environment where every child knows that they are listened to and cared for.
A key part of our wellbeing provision is our In-School Family Support Worker, Mrs Tracy Bourdeau, who provides invaluable support for children and families across the school. Mrs Bourdeau is both Trauma Informed Schools trained and ELSA (Emotional Literacy Support Assistant) trained, enabling her to offer high-quality emotional support tailored to the needs of our pupils. Families and children will often see Mrs Bourdeau on the morning gate, where she is always available with a warm welcome and a listening ear.
Alongside Mrs Hoare, Mrs Bourdeau runs our daily Wellbeing Breakfast in The Nest. This calm and supportive start to the day gives children the opportunity to talk through any worries or concerns they may have, helping them to feel settled, ready to learn and confident as they begin the school day.
We are also proud to have launched our Wellbeing Warriors, a pupil leadership team made up of three dedicated Year 5 and 6 pupils who are passionate about supporting the mental health and wellbeing of their peers. The Wellbeing Warriors work proactively across the school, leading projects and initiatives designed to strengthen and enhance our wellbeing provision and ensure that pupil voice remains central to our approach.
In every classroom, children also have access to a Lindridge Worry Monster. This provides a simple and confidential way for pupils to share any worries, concerns or problems whenever they arise. Class teachers and teaching assistants regularly check the Worry Monsters during break and lunchtime, ensuring that concerns are addressed promptly and that children receive the support they need.
Together, these initiatives help us to ensure that every child at Lindridge St Lawrence feels supported, understood and empowered to achieve their very best.
